As the families in the central part of the Rahova neighbourhood in Bucharest were being evicted from their homes, they developed a project to raise awareness about their situation and to find alternative solutions. Artists and architects participated, together forming a community that met every week to discuss but also to learn from one another. One of the main subjects was the development, together with the city hall, of a communal housing project in a place nearby. While this idea never came into being due to lack of funding, in our collective imagination, negotiating common needs and desires had a very important formative role. From maths lessons to learning to make soup, the project meant that this community living here for more than 30 years would not be dissolved through having to move in different places.
I took part in this project by documenting the meetings through photographs and developing a social media presence for the project.
